Behavioral Health Administrative Services Organization (ASO)
The Department of Health and Mental Hygiene released a Request for Proposal (RFP) for an administrative services organization (ASO) for Maryland's Public Behavioral Health System in February 2014. We are pleased to announce that ValueOptions, Inc. is awarded the contract by unanimous decision by the Board of Public Works, with additional information available on pages 64-66 of the Board's agenda. Key Dates for the ASO Transition
§ September 3, 2014: ValueOptions is awarded the ASO contract.
§ January 1, 2015: ASO contract goes into effect, SUD providers begin billing the ASO for MHA covered services.

Provider Forums and Trainings
Leading up to January 1st, 2015, DHMH and ValueOptions will host regional forums to introduce providers to the ASO’s ProviderConnect system, update stakeholders on the implementation process, and introduce the ValueOptions team. Behavioral Health Administration (BHA)
Effective July 1, 2014, the Mental Hygiene Administration and Alcohol and Drug Abuse Administration merged to become the Behavioral Health Administration (BHA). The organizational chart for the BHA is available here: Organizational Chart.
Behavioral Health Integration Stakeholder Workgroup
The Department has convened a stakeholder workgroup to make recommendations on issues related to behavioral health, including statutory and regulatory changes to fully integrate mental health and substance use disorder treatment and recovery support; and promote health services.
