Options for Financing the Maryland Health Benefit Exchange (December 1, 2012)
NOTICE (9/25/12): The Maryland Health Benefit Exchange Act of 2012 established a joint legislative and executive committee to develop, in consultation with the Maryland Health Benefit Exchange, its Financing and Sustainability Advisory Committee, and other stakeholders, a report and recommendations to the Governor and General Assembly on the financing mechanisms which should be used to enable the Exchange to be self-sustaining by 2015.
To support the Joint Committee’s efforts, Wakely Consulting Group has conducted an independent analysis of potential revenue options for
financing the operations of the Maryland Health Benefit Exchange. A link to the Wakely report can be found above. Comments from the public on the findings of this analysis of financing options for the Maryland Health Benefit Exchange are welcome and can be submitted by
email to Jonathon Krom until October 22, 2012 (jkromm@gov.state.md.us).
This analysis and the public comments received will help to inform the Joint Committee’s recommendations to the Governor and General
Assembly on financing options for the Maryland Health Benefit Exchange. The period for comments on the Wakely analysis will remain open until October 22, 2012.
