HOW ARE HEALTHCARE PROVIDERS CONTRIBUTING TO FLU SURVEILLANCE?

Influenza Sentinel Providers gather and report information on the number of visits for influenza-like illness (ILI) that they see at their practice settings. Reporting takes a few minutes a week and can be done electronically.

Sentinel providers can be physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, and college/university student health provider. Over 2,400 providers in the United States currently report their data to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC).

If you wish to join the network, or would like more information on what is involved in becoming a sentinel provider, please contact the state influenza surveillance coordinator at 410-767-6700. More information on the program is here.

If you already are a sentinel provider, click here to go to the CDC reporting website. (A password is required.)
