Office Of Adult Services
Primary Responsibilities:
The Office of Adult Services develops, administers, and monitors the statewide continuum of community-based mental health programs and services for adults and older adults; formulates policy, protocols, regulations, and practice guidelines to support systems transformation for improved consumer outcomes; and promotes evidence-based, consumer-directed, and recovery-oriented rehabilitation and treatment services and supports that have demonstrated effectiveness and are responsive to consumer needs and preferences.
Functions:
The office plans and directs the:
- Dissemination, implementation, and evaluation of Evidence-Based Practices(EBP) , including supported employment, Assertive Community Treatment, Co-occurring Disorders, and Family Psychoeducation, in accordance with established fidelity criteria;
- Development of certain standards for care and regulations for publicly funded mental health services for adults;
- Design and development of specialized programs and services for youth transitioning into the adulthood; older adults and adults aging in place; individuals in state hospitals, and adults who have sustained a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI);
The office:
- Provides training, consultation, and technical assistance in areas of supported employment, case management, psychiatric rehabilitation programs, crisis services, housing and residential rehabilitation services, transitional-age youth, aging and older adult services and traumatic brain injury services;
- Develops, with CSAs, crisis response and hospital diversion systems and programs
- Facilitates the development of resources for affordable housing, crisis systems, and competitive employment, and monitors and oversees residential rehabilitation and support employment systems.
- Performs Pre Admission Screen Resident Review (PASRR) of admissions to nursing homes for individuals with a history of mental illness;
- Implements and manages the Medicaid traumatic brain injury home and community based waiver program
- Oversees the interstate compact agreement among States that provides for the interstate transfers for individuals requiring inpatient psychiatric treatment within state-operated facilities.
Collaborations:
This office collaborates with other relevant state agencies in developing an integrated, coherent, consumer-centered service delivery system; provides specialized program, consultative and research resources to MHA and other agencies; provides administrative, program, and consultative mental health services to the adult programs of all Core Service Agencies; and promotes discharge initiatives that include innovative programs to facilitate the discharge of individuals from state hospitals to the community.
