Objective: Improve cultural and linguistic competency
 
Charge for the Implementation of the Maryland Health Improvement and Disparities Reduction Act of 2012:
 
  • Make recommendations on the format of reporting for higher education institutions on their actions to address disparities.
  • Make recommendations to the Maryland Health Care Cost and Quality Council about different levels of cultural and linguistic competence that could factor into a reimbursement system and about how to support a continuing education system for cultural and linguistic competence. 
  • Make recommendations to the Maryland Health Care Commission on how to evaluate the cultural and linguistic appropriateness of information provided by enrollees by health plans. 
  • Provide feedback to the Office of Minority Health and Health Disparities on a draft of the Health Primer.
