POSITION DESIGNATION: This position is a management service position.
NATURE OF WORK: This position serves as Director of Forensics for the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DHMH) coordinating and monitoring the Department’s system of forensic services, including court ordered evaluations of individuals within the adult criminal justice system, and the provision of services to court involved individuals by the Alcohol and Drug Abuse, Developmental Disabilities and Mental Hygiene Administrations. With leadership of these Administrations within DHMH, this position will establish uniform standards for forensic evaluations and treatment and coordinate the development of an integrated, cohesive service evaluation and service delivery system that meets the needs of the individuals and the needs of the criminal justice system. The Director of Forensics will develop training and consultative services to DHMH agencies and other participants of the criminal justice system. It will also develop and implement forensic data collection and analysis.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
Education: A minimum of a Ph.D or PsyD. with forensic post-doctoral training, M.D. with completion of a forensic psychiatry fellowship, J.D. or a Masters in a human service field.
Experience: Four years of experience in conducting forensic evaluations or overseeing services to individuals within a criminal justice or court-ordered service delivery system of care. This experience must have included responsibility for development of protocols, policies or standards related to the service delivery system. At least two years of this experience must have been supervisory or managerial. A Master’s degree and four additional years of experience may be substituted for the Ph.D, or PsyD Degree.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience in forensic and/or criminal data base systems, data collection and analysis are preferred.
SALARY: $68,692 to $100,249 with potential growth to $110,297 (Grade 24)
