the Staff

Eve
Unger, Chief of Training Services, has worked many happy years for
Training Services and returned from retirement to become its
Chief. Her career
spans over 40 years of working in small psychiatric hospitals,
collegiate and community college nursing programs, the Mental
Hygiene Administration, the AIDS Administration, and the Office of
Human Resources at DHMH. Eve
had her own consulting business and worked as a home health nurse.
She loves working with people and helping to make things
happen. |

David
Mark, Director of Administrative Support, has a Master degree from
Loyola College in Curriculum Development. For 10 years he has
worked at the Kennedy School for Learning Disabilities both as a
teacher and Vice Principal. For the past 23 years since leaving
Kennedy, David has been involved in the design, development, and
delivery of training content for a number of private
organizations. In January, 2001, he came to DHMH with the goal of
developing online courses. Today his primary focus is maintaining
an online system that delivers and tracks online courses, and
registers participants for classroom courses. |

Susan Steele, Director of Training Programs, has
been involved in education for her entire professional career,
first, in the public sector as a high school teacher and counselor
and then, in a variety of industries in the private sector as a
consultant, trainer, software implementation specialist, and
training manager. She lives in Fells Point with her husband and three cats and
truly enjoys “city living” with all its varied cultural and
recreational activities. |

Jessica
George, Employee Development Coordinator, has worked with Training
Services Division since October, 2002 in varied capacities, and
for the last three years as the Employee Development Coordinator
overseeing the Tuition Reimbursement Program, Scholarships, and
the Community Colleges' Nursing and Allied Health Program. Jessica
brings to the Training Services Division over 30 years of State
service.
She enjoys music, decorating, gardening, and "going to
the ocean". |

Chris
Grodnitzky, Management Development Specialist, began working for The
Training Services Division in December 2000.
Chris came to TSD with a Human Resources Management
background and has used this experience to co-facilitate the
Balanced Manager series offered by Training Services monthly.
In addition Chris has been able to incorporate her Customer
Service background to the Office Professional series she
co-facilitates.
Chris enjoys spending time with her family, visiting the
Eastern Shore and refurbishing her home.

Cynthia
Harris, Management Development Specialist, has worked for the
Training Services Division for the past five years.
She has extensive experience in the field of training and
development.
Cynthia enjoys praising the Lord, gardening and spending time
with her family and friends.

|
Melissa
Kalisek, Registration Coordinator, has been with TSD since February
2004. Previous to this
Melissa was positioned with the Chief Medical
Examiner’s Office and has 26 years of State service. She facilitates DHMH’s Employee Orientation, manages the
office and is a knowledgeable resource for new staff. She also
registers participants into TSD’s Learning Management System. When
Melissa is away from the office, she
loves fishing in local and exotic locales, gardening, bike riding
and hiking.

Paulina
Nicolaides, Webmaster, joined Training Services in October 2006. She
received her Bachelor degree from Towson University where she
studied graphic design and the fine arts. She spent several years in
public relations designing print and web content for the Maryland
Lottery. When not managing Training Services’ website,
Paulina enjoys music, travel,
and spending time with her husband and their two demanding dogs.

Vander Spruill, Employee Development
Specialist, has joyfully worked in the field of education and
training since 1998. Vander’s wide-ranging professional
experiences include functioning as a public school teacher,
developmental disabilities advocate, college instructor and
diversity consultant. In 2001 he received a Master’s degree in
Human Resource Development from Towson University. Vander joined the
TSD team in April 2008 bringing a strong knowledge base and passion
for cultural diversity competence and inclusion. His primary
responsibility will be TSD’s diversity training initiatives, along
with various management development programs. Leisurely, Vander
enjoys music, reading, traveling abroad, and physical fitness.
